Tax Relief for Donations

The Minister for Finance, Michael Noonan, plans to amend the tax relief for donations to approved bodies in next year’s budget, to take effect from 1 January 2013.

Hungary’s Deficit Prompts EU to Freeze Payments

Earlier this week, the European Council adopted a decision to suspend a payment of over €495m to Hungary. The payment was a scheduled commitment from the cohesion fund and was to take place in January 2013.

Household Charge

There are only two weeks remaining for homeowners to pay the Household Charge, which was introduced by the Local Government (Household Charge) Act 2011. The charge applies to residential property only and it is to be an annual charge.
