Murdoch's Term of the Week: Zillmerizing

Zillmerisation refers to a method of valuing life insurance policies and companies. Developed by the eponymous August Zillmer in the latter half of the nineteenth century, this method involves offsetting initial expenses against later increases in premiums. Citizenship application denied on grounds that applicant had not satisfied 'continuous residence' requirement

The applicant, an Australian national, came before the court seeking to become an Irish citizen through naturalisation under s 15 of the Irish Nationality and Citizenship Act 1956 - as substituted by s 4 of the 1986 Act. The key issue here was the 'continuous residence' requirement, which the applicant was held not to have satisfied.
