New and improved Bloomsbury Professional Online FAQs
We are delighted to announce the all-new Bloomsbury Professional Online, on a fully redesigned and optimised platform, launching in spring 2025.
Easier to search, browse, and navigate, the new and improved Bloomsbury Professional Online is an even more essential online resource to support reference and research in your organisation. Users can access the same top-quality content you expect from Bloomsbury Professional, with an augmented platform to enrich your experience.
When will the new platform go live?
The new platform will be launching in spring 2025.
What’s different about the new platform?
- We’ve redesigned how you access your content, with a revamped homepage and clearer visual layout.
- Enhanced search function to improve discoverability of key content that matters to you.
- You’ll now be able to personalise your platform, by favouriting content you access regularly, and setting up new content alerts to receive notifications as soon as an update is online.
- An upgraded navigation bar, where you can explore online content by practice area, plus the ability to browse by author or recently updated content.
- Continued any time access to your favourite content, optimised for a more sophisticated and responsive mobile experience for users on the go.
What does this mean for my subscription to Bloomsbury Professional Online?
Nothing! Your subscription will continue with the same great content and anytime access, but with an elevated look and feel on the new platform.
Where will I go to log in?
You’ll be able to access the new and improved Bloomsbury Professional Online at the same URL: www.bloomsburyprofessionalonline.com.
How/when will I receive my new username and password details?
We will be in touch soon with your new username and password details, so keep an eye on your email. You won’t need these until the new platform launches, so keep them somewhere safe.
We are sending these details in advance to make your access to the new platform easier and to ensure we are managing your data in a GDPR-compliant way.
If your subscription is for multiple users and each user requires their own login, or needs access via another method such as IP Recognition or Shibboleth, please get in touch with your Account Manager directly or Customers Services here: customerservices@bloomsburyprofessional.com.
Will my old bookmarks still work?
URL redirects will be set up to support users who have bookmarked previous URLs, or who are accessing them via library catalogue systems, reading lists, search engines, as well as other discovery and indexing databases.
Please note the redirects will live in our platform indefinitely. DOIs will continue to point to the new platform too. This means that if you are using our MARC records (which include DOI URLs), you do not need to adjust URLs. If you are using your own MARC records or are bookmarking pages using the OLD platform URLs, you are covered by the redirects.
What about other access methods? How will they work on the new platform?
IP authentication, Shibboleth, Open Athens and http referrer will continue to work in exactly the same way as the old platform. If you are using a WAYFless URL with your Shibboleth and Open Athens access, this will change following migration and we can provide individual details on request.
Any Bloomsbury Professional Online customers using EZProxy should ensure that they have the Geoplugin stanza in their EZProxy config.txt (if it is not there already) just above the Bloomsbury Professional Online stanza. You will also need to remove the HTTPHeader -request -process X-Requested-With line from your existing Bloomsbury Professional Online stanza.
Please check and confirm that your EZProxy config.txt file stanzas for Bloomsbury Professional Online are set as follows, including the Option Cookie directive:
